Turm-Brauhaus
The Turm-Brauhaus lies right in the center on Neumarkt, directly opposite the historic town hall and the Red Tower, the oldest building in the city, which gave the house its name. Across three floors stretches a lovingly assembled jumble of original furniture from the Wilhelminian and Art Nouveau eras, old enamel signs, yellowed newspaper clippings and long-forgotten photographs. Anyone who steps inside sits with a freshly tapped beer comfortably beside the large copper brewing kettles, the malt chamber, the malt mill and the distillery, and can watch the brewmaster at work.
Beer is still brewed here in-house and in the traditional way. The flagship is the pale Turmbräu, joined by copper-colored specialties and the house herbal spirit Turmgeist. On the plate comes down-to-earth brewpub cooking in generous portions: the copper-beer goulash refined with the house brew, the hearty brewpub schnitzel, pork knuckle, bratwurst and changing Saxon classics. The fair price level and the convivial atmosphere make the house a reliable meeting point for locals and for guests who want to experience the sociable side of Chemnitz.
The central location on Neumarkt, a few steps from downtown, the market square and the Karl Marx Monument, makes the Turm-Brauhaus an ideal stop on a city stroll. Whether for a hearty lunch, an after-work beer following a shopping trip or a long, sociable evening in a large group: here brewing tradition meets Saxon tavern culture, right in the heart of the Capital of Culture.
