Schloßchemnitz

Schloßchemnitz in the north goes back to the former Benedictine monastery from which the eponymous Schloßberg emerged. Here stand the oldest architectural witnesses to the city's history, the Schloßberg Museum and the late-Gothic Schloßkirche. The museum in the former monastery building shows sacred art of the Middle Ages and the development of Chemnitz, while the church impresses with its famous relief of the Column of the Flagellation.

Right below lies the Schloßteich, the city's green oasis. The expansive park with its large pond, old trees, boat rental and lakeside paths is a popular destination for walks, after-work strolls and summer days. Around the pond, restored period houses, residential quarters and dining mix into a grown, relaxed district.

Schloßchemnitz combines recreation and history over a short distance and is at the same time well connected to the center. Anyone seeking peace by the water, a view of the Schloßberg and church, and the typical Chemnitz mix of old and new is in the right place here. From the Schloßteich the green Küchwald forest with its observation tower and park railway is easy to reach.
