max louis

The max louis lies on the historic grounds of the Schönherrfabrik and bears the name of a son of the entrepreneur Louis Ferdinand Schönherr, whose loom factory in the 19th century helped establish the nickname 'Saxon Manchester' for Chemnitz. Today the restaurant combines the raw industrial style of the old factory with modern architecture and the historic character of the place into a coherent whole. Between brick, steel and large windows, an atmosphere emerges that makes the city's industrial past tangible and at the same time feels inviting.

On the plate come dishes of high quality and authenticity, for which the team uses fresh, regional ingredients from Saxony and Germany. The kitchen sees itself as cheeky, fresh and honest, combining tradition with imaginative ideas and changing with the seasons. This creates plates that show the best of the region in a contemporary form. The upscale price level matches the standard of produce, craft and ambiance and makes the max louis a fixed presence in Chemnitz gastronomy.

Embedded in the Schönherrfabrik, which today houses creatives, shops and events, the restaurant is an ideal place to combine industrial heritage and enjoyment. Whether as the culinary conclusion of a visit to the factory grounds, as the destination for a special evening or as a meeting point with friends: anyone looking for regional cuisine in an unmistakable industrial ambiance will find one of the most characterful addresses in the city here.
