Chemnitz City Festival 2026
Every year in early September, the Chemnitz City Festival turns the downtown into one big stage. Around the market square, Theaterplatz and the pedestrian zone, several stages draw crowds with live music, plus arts and crafts, street food and a program for the whole family. It is the sociable highlight of the city's year in the city of modernism.

The Days of Industrial Culture celebrate the industrial heritage of Chemnitz and the entire region. It is a focus closely tied to the Capital of Culture year.

The Chemnitz Christmas Market is one of the largest and most atmospheric Advent markets in Saxony. On the market square in front of the Old Town Hall, festively decorated stalls line up, joined by Erzgebirge Christmas craft, the scent of mulled wine and the great pyramid. All around, smoking-man figures, candle arches and the magic of the Erzgebirge tradition beckon.
